Your privacy at SRK Electrical.
This policy explains what data SRK Electrical Ltd collects when you use our website at srkelectriical.com, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.
1. Who we are
SRK Electrical Ltd ("SRK", "we", "us") is the data controller for the website srkelectriical.com. We are a private limited company registered in England & Wales, Company No. 14124244, with a registered office at Horley Green House, Horley Green Road, Halifax, HX3 6AS, England. You can reach our support team at support@srkelectriical.com.
2. What data we collect
The Home Electrical Helper is deliberately minimal. We do not require an account, and the interactive tools (Check Issue, Prepare Visit) run entirely in your browser.
- Server request logs. When your browser requests a page, our hosting provider records the IP address, timestamp, page URL, referrer and browser string. These logs are retained for up to 30 days and are used to diagnose outages and detect abuse.
- Support email content. If you write to support@srkelectriical.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message. Emails are stored in our mailbox for up to 24 months.
- Browser storage. The checklist and check-issue tools keep your selections in the page memory only — they are not written to cookies or to our servers.
- Credit balance and sign-in email. When you use Ask the Wire, Visualize or Walkthrough, your credit balance and your sign-in email (if provided) are stored in your browser's localStorage. Once Stripe billing goes live, the same data will be stored on our servers under the legal basis of contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- AI prompts. Text and image prompts you submit are sent to our AI provider (currently yunwu.ai and a dedicated Veo video gateway, routing to upstream model vendors) to produce your answer. We do not train models on your prompts. Prompts are not retained on our systems beyond what is strictly needed to complete the request.
- Chargeback evidence logs. Once Stripe billing is live, we keep a minimal activity log of paid credit purchases and their consumption — order ID, timestamp, feature used, credits spent and the IP address used. We retain this for 18 months after the purchase, because UK/EU card networks allow chargebacks within that window. Without this record we cannot defend fraudulent chargebacks and would have to stop serving card payments. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR (legitimate interest — fraud prevention).
We do not use advertising cookies, re-marketing pixels, or third-party analytics that track individual visitors across sites.
3. Legal basis
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the legal bases we rely on are:
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)). Running the website securely and preventing abuse.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)). When you choose to contact us by email — sending the email is the act of consent.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)). Where we must retain or produce data to comply with UK tax, accounting or law enforcement requirements.
4. How long we keep data
- Server logs: 30 days.
- Support emails: up to 24 months after last correspondence.
- Business records (invoices, contracts): 6 years, as required by UK tax law.
5. Who we share data with
We only share personal data with:
- Our website hosting provider, which processes log data on our behalf within the UK and EEA.
- Our email provider, which processes inbound support email on our behalf within the UK and EEA.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to do so.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not transfer it to jurisdictions outside the UK or EEA without appropriate safeguards.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask for inaccurate data to be corrected.
- Ask for your data to be deleted where there is no overriding reason to keep it.
- Object to or restrict our processing.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or call 0303 123 1113.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@srkelectriical.com with the subject line "Data request". We will respond within one UK calendar month.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to our mailbox and hosting accounts is protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. We review access at least annually and on any staff change.
8. Cookies
We use a single strictly-necessary cookie to remember whether you have closed informational banners. No other cookies are set by default. If we ever introduce analytics or marketing cookies, a consent banner will appear before any such cookie is written.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the law changes or when we change how the site works. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for at least 30 days.
